Today is the day! Into the Darkening Dust: Book One of The Dustlands is now available wherever books are sold! Now you can leap into a new adventure with Janet, our favorite heroine from The Deadlands series. This one takes place about six months after the events of Nothingland and contains spoilers for all the previous books in the series, including Vulpine Curse and short stories in The Deadlands Omnibus.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Ashes to ashes. Dust to dust.

Janet thought she had left behind the legacy of her parents, Hugh and Amos. After bringing them back over and over into the bodies of dead animals, she knew it was time for them to rest and for her to start trying to live again in the Deadlands. After all, that's what her new friend, Mark, thinks is best for her: to find the scraps of good still left in the world and make them worth living for. It's hard when there are still men focused on bringing misery to those left behind, men who deserved what judgement came for them. Janet wants to be that judgement, still feeling that flame of retribution inside of her to enact a swift and painful justice. It's who she is, who she's made herself.

But when she discovers a lost journal belonging to Amos that tells her of his estranged brother and his ties to blood magic, Janet becomes enamored with the thought of finding someone like her again, finding someone who might understand what she's been through. As the dust storms grow more violent around the land, Janet realizes the only way to find her lost kin is to dig into her own past in search of answers. That means revisiting old haunts, places she swore she'd never return. Not sure what she'll find when she gets there, Janet knows that in leaving things behind, there's a chance they will become lost to the dust as well.

Into The Darkening Dust follows the continuing story of Janet from The Deadlands (Undead Folk, Dead Folk, and Nothingland) into a new adventure where the past never stops clawing for you.

There are already two lovely reviews for Into The Darkening Dust up on its Goodreads page that you can peruse if you’d like to hear readers’ first impressions! Thank you to the lovely Abby and Matt for reading ARC copies and giving your honest thoughts!

Today also happens to be the 2nd book birthday of this beauty…

I did not imagine when I released this book two years ago the following it would garner or the journey its protagonist would take (and continue to take). Janet has become a phenomenon in my building of characters, one that has grown a life of her own and who’s journey through the Deadlands/Dustlands continues to inspire others.

If you haven’t started the series yet, you can grab this novelette for only 99 cents on ebook. If you’d like to see some reviews, check out its over 300+ reviews on Goodreads and/or this lovely new one from the amazing Brian Keene.
