For those of you who haven’t been keeping up on social media, it’s been a hell of a month for the release of The Wild Fall in both good and bad ways. For starters, I’d like to thank everyone who has pre-ordered so far, who has helped spread the word about the book through sharing links, reviewing early, and just generally being awesome human beings. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

On to the issues surrounding the release of The Wild Fall: it’s Ingram’s fault.

On the 13th, I uploaded what was to be the final draft of the paperback book interior and cover, with the assumption that I had enough time for those changes to be implemented to the books before they began to print. A week later, I discovered that they had already begun to print the books with the wrong files and were already shipping them out to customers and bookstores who had ordered.

I’m gutted. Not only am I gutted; I’m fuming. Despite getting into it with Ingram Support, they claimed that I should have had the correct files uploaded earlier to avoid this kind of possibility (despite the fact that they tell you your final files should be uploaded at least ten days before the book releases…) and didn’t take responsibility for their role in sending out close to 60 books with the wrong covers and interiors.

If you pre-ordered a book through B&N or Amazon prior to this week, I am truly sorry. You will likely end up with a book that contains the advance reading copy version of the book along with an incomplete acknowledgements page, no advance praise page, and a cover without author blurbs. If you would like to exchange your copy, I’ll happily take it and send you a new one free of charge once I am able to have the new versions printed.

As a side bonus to this printing the wrong files crap, I am unable to access my files for The Wild Fall, which means I can’t upload the final ebook interior, can’t change the metadata and descriptions, nor the price of the ebook until all of the printing is done on the current copies. Which means more than likely that I won’t be able to order my author copies until well into August at this rate. If you have pre-ordered a paperback from me on the website, they will be coming! But, they will be late.

Good news is that I now have hardcovers (with the correct files) available via Amazon and B&N for pre-order. They won’t ship until late August, but at least they will be correct inside and out. I’ve placed an order for author copies of those which I’m hoping will arrive before I depart for my book launch at Little Ghosts in Toronto.

To add to some of the frustration: since I can’t update the metadata for the paperback or the ebook so that it’s consistent with the hardcover, all three are showing up on their own pages on Amazon. Amazon won’t manually group all three together unless the data is the same or unless they are all published through KDP (which they are not).

This is happening SO SOON! August 6th, I’ll be at Little Ghost Books to celebrate the release of the book! I’m looking forward to seeing all of my friends across the border. It’ll be my first time having a book launch at a bookstore and my second time being to Canada ever! If you’re in the area, stop on by and hang out!

I’ll also try to put up a note about it first thing tomorrow if I have time before work. Jason was great to work with on this project. I hope you’ll all check it out when it officially releases.

*That about does it for news. I know that I haven’t released any Cooking Adventures in the last couple months, Inspiration Through Music posts, or Nostalgic Horror posts. Truth be told is that I’m absolutely winded from all of the stress surrounding the release of this book and really need some time to repair my mental health once it does officially release. I probably won’t be posting many new articles in the coming weeks (with exception to release day) so that I can practice some self-love and get myself back on track. I’ll be back to posting things hopefully by the end of the month.
